My boy Finley (who stole it from BeerSlinger), over at WetWired.org, graciously contributed this recipe. The perfect snack for football season.
1 box Wheat Chex (or generic substitute of wheat chex type cereal), 14 oz.
1 full stick of butter, regular (Do not use butter substitute. Up to 1.5 sticks of butter may be used)
Worcestershire sauce
Old Bay seasoning
-Cut butter in to chunks in a microwave safe bowl. Zap for about 45 seconds on high. Remove butter and stir with fork until all of butter is melted and in liquid form.
-Add several shakes of Worchestershire sauce [recommend 8-10, or about 1-1.5 oz of Worcestershire sauce (Marie's note: whatever. no one is measuring their Worcestershire. Not in my kitchen. Pour that deliciousness in)] to the melted butter, along with 7-8 shakes of Old Bay seasoning. Whisk with fork until mixed- butter mixture will turn dark.
-Pour Chex into large microwavable bowl. Pour the butter mixture over the cereal and mix with hands until the butter is coating the Chex. Place in microwave for 2 minutes on high.
Good as a popcorn replacement, as well as a snack on long trips when NOT driving. Eat with napkins nearby!
